Play dough

What better dough to play with than the cookie variety? None. Cookie dough is the best kind to play with, and by play with, I mean eat.
However, today we did not make cookie dough, we made good ole fashion play dough. The non-eating kind.

I was browsing Pinterest for things I can do/make with the girls without having to make a Walmart run. Let me tell you... it's limited.
Here is the recipe I came across and decided to make it happen...

Squishy Play Dough

1 cup flour
1 cup water
1/4 cup salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 Tbls. vegetable oil
food coloring (I used 4 drops)
Just dump all the ingredients into your pot and give them a good stir.
Put your pot on the stove and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it forms into a ball.
As soon as it joins into one big glob, take it off the heat and dump it onto your counter or some wax paper.  Wait for it to cool, then knead it a few times until it is nice and soft.  This is where you have to use a little self control to let the kids have a turn too. :)

I did not put the food coloring in the pot as I wanted several colors but didn't want to make more than one batch. After it was "cooked" I separated it and added the food coloring.
Next time I think I will add some peppermint oil to make it scented.

She started with yellow.
Great sensory play.
Being silly.
She glanced over at her sister and decided to mimic.
She was not impressed with the flavor.
At all.
But seriously... not a fan.

I do believe this will become a regular event.

That's all for now.
